             The official start of summer is right around the corner and so is our summer hockey season. This summer we will be offering a Tuesday Night Skate at 6:30pm and a Thursday night skate at 7:40pm. The Tuesday night skate will begin June 29th, and will run for 10 weeks, ending August 31st. The Thursday night skate will begin July 1st, and will run 10 weeks as well, ending September 2nd. The cost for each night is $180.00 (Broken into 2 payments of $90.00 each.) Spots are limited and are based on a first come first serve basis.

            The Saturday morning clinic will be wrapping up on June 26th and won’t begin again until September. I will include all the details on that in our Fall Newsletter which will be sent out in August.

            I want to thank everyone for participating in the league this past year. We are growing so quickly. Everyday there has been more and more interest in the program. I want to thank everyone again for their patience as we continue to grow. My goal is to provide a place where everyone can come to play and feel comfortable, have fun, and relax.

            I will once again be starting a new reserve list for each night. So anyone who is unable to fully commit to a night, but would like to be a fill in player from time to time, please let me know so I can add you to my list.

I just want to start out by thanking everyone who has participated in the inaugural season of the Hockeytown Women’s Hockey League. We have over 65 women who have played this season. Our goal is to continue to build up enough interest to formalize the league. Little by little more and more women are expressing an interest in playing with us. It’s been great getting to know everyone this past season and I really appreciate everyone’s patience with us as we keep trying to build a women’s hockey league that will allow women to play competitive “fun” hockey for years to come.

The Sunday morning skate begins another 10 week session starting May 3, 2009. The session will end on June 28, 2009. We will take a break with the Sunday skate for the summer but will resume in September after Labor Day. In place of the Sunday Morning skate Hockeytown will be offering a Thursday night skate. The Thursday Night skate will begin on Thursday July 2, 2009 at 8:00pm and will run for 10 weeks ending September 3, 2009. The cost will be $180.00. At this time there is only one hour available and spots will be limited to 22 players. Players must sign up and pay in full by June 1, 2009. Players will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Walk-ons will not be accepted at this time. If however, we do not get 22 committed skaters we will then consider opening it up to walk-ons.

We plan on continuing our Thursday morning skills clinic through June as well. The current session will end on May 21, 2009. A short 5 weeks session will begin on May 28, 2009 and end on June 25, 2009 at which time we will determine a day and time to continue the clinic through the summer months. As always walk-ons are welcome.
